Based on diode laser technology using polymethine dyes specifically staining nucleic acids, sensitive particle analysis with particularly sensitive bacteria detection at clinically relevant levels could be achieved. By using new optical signals and identifying over 65,000 particles, analytical performance in respect to sensitivity, accuracy and precision could be further enhanced. Classification and separation of populations could be further improved. Like its UF-forerunners, UF-1000i measures RBC, WBC, bacteria, epithelial cells, casts, crystals, yeasts and spermatozoa. Complementary information is provided by urinary conductivity besides RBC morphology information and an intelligent rule-based UTI flag.
